SERAFIN V. AGUILAR CHAPTER, IODM CELEBRATES TENTH ANNIVERSARY
The Serafin V. Aguilar Chapter, International Order of DeMolay in Bacolod City recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary with appropriate activities.
The celebration started with a church service for the DeMolays and Members of the Advisory council at the Bacolod Evangelical Church. This was followed by the planting of Seven Symbolic Eucal-ptus trees, representing the seven cardinal virtues of the Order of DeMolay at the site of the New Kanlaon Lodge No. 64 which is under construction. The Lodge is the sponsoring body of the De-Molay chapter
Highlighting the celebration was the testimonial luncheon tendered by the chapter in honor of the sponsoring Lodge at the Sea Breeze Hotel. A Diploma of Appreciation was presented by the Chapter to Kan-la-on Lodge No. 64. VW Manuel V. Ko, Grand Lodge Deputy for Masonic District No. 27, WB Manuel M. Avello, Jr., Incumbent Master of Kanlaon Lodge No. 64, lead the recipients of the Special Service Medals for their sterling and unconditional support of the Order of DeMolay.
WB Manuel Buma-at, Chairman of the Advisory Council and WB Alipio “Chap” Ykalina, Il, Chapter Advisor; were awarded 10-year Diplomas of Distinction for their unfailing service to the Order of DeMolay in general and S.V. Aguilar Chapter in particular.
On the same occasion, the Chapter received a joint Resolution of Officer of the Philippines, Guam and Okinawa flew in from Manila on December 21, 1969 to personally reconstitute the DeMolay chapter in Bacolod City. The first De-Molay chapter was organized in the city in 1947. It became dormant after a few years of activity.
Foremost among the earlier Bacolod DeMolays was Hon. Rafael M. Salas, Under Secretary on Population of the United Nations.
The Advisory Council of the Serafin V. Aguilar Chapter is composed of; Manuel Buma-at, Chairman; Alipio Ykalina Il, Chapter Advisor, and Angel Villasor, Vicente Bailon, Antonio Ko, Angel Araneta and Dante Catapia, Members.
Thanks and Appreciation from the Barangay Council, of Barangay La-karon, Villadolid, Negros Occidental and the Maria Palacios Pres-bitero Elementary School, for the Chapter’s various and lasting community works and services rendered to the school and the community of Barangay Lakaron.
WB Augusto Santos, DeMolay Executive Officer for the Visayas delivered the keynote address.
Sports activities and fellowship with Senior DeMolays, and other DeMolays in the Visayas dominated the afternoon activities.
